A dedication ceremony is slated for this evening at Chillicothe High School to honor the late Neil Johnston. The Chillicothe native was an all-state basketball selection during his high school days, and later went to be a 6-time all-star selection in the National Basketball Association. He won three scoring titles while playing in the NBA. Johnston, who passed away in 1978 at the age of 49, is in both the Ohio Basketball and Naismith Basketball Halls of Fame. A statue saluting his career is in front of the Hatton Gym at Chillicothe High School. This evening's ceremony, postponed a year due to the pandemic, starts at 6:00.
