Support for legalization of medical marijuana is on the rise in Utah, according to new poll numbers released by UtahPolicy.com. The survey has found that 73% of Utah residents are now in favor of a new initiative which would allow for use of medical marijuana on a very limited and highly controlled basis, and only to treat specific diseases and control pain. The numbers even go so far as to include "strong support" from people who describe themselves as active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, a religion which strongly condemns the use of any mind altering substance or drug.
The initiative is expected to be on the November 2018 ballot, provided all the 113,000 registered voter signatures are collected for the petition.
