State lawmakers will have an estimated $484 million beyond their usual budget to spend when the reconvene for a general session next month. According to figures released from both the legislature and the governor's office Tuesday, there is roughly $382.4 million in new ongoing revenue, and $101.6 million in new one-time money that is available for the state general and education funding. The revenue estimates have been given in advance of Governor Herbert releasing his 2018-2019 budget proposal Wednesday.
Both the governor and state legislators have indicated the extra funds to be indicative of the overall health of the state's economy. Currently the state's budget is around $16.2 billion.
