Sandy elementary school lockdown lifted

An elementary school in Sandy was put under a brief lockdown Tuesday morning, while officers searched the premises for an explosive device. The school went on lockdown shortly after a bomb threat was made, but the lockdown was lifted around 11:15 a.m. when law enforcement did not find any evidence of a bomb, or weapons of any kind. All present at the school were safe and accounted for during the lockdown and have been allowed back in the building.

Investigators are continuing to look into where the threat originated from and a motive, but so far have declined to comment about either.
