President Donald Trump will be visiting Salt Lake City on Monday, and it is anticipated that he will be announcing reductions in the size of the Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante national monuments. The change comes after months of effort trying to convince the president the monuments needed to be scaled back by several members of Utah's congressional delegation, as well as a trip by the Secretary of the Interior, Ryan Zinke, to view the monument sites and establish a reduction proposal. The trip was announced by Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-UT, after he said the president had agreed to the recommendations of both himself and Zinke, in regards to scaling back the size of the monuments.
