An early morning fire Tuesday morning has left a West Jordan business severely damaged and looking at thousands of dollars in repairs. Crews responded to calls reporting a fire at Custom Industries, a metal recycling company, around 2:20 a.m. and arrived to find fire in the wires and electrical panel with a smelting machine.
Fire crews were able to keep the fire from spreading while Rocky Mountain Power crews worked to shut off power to the structure. Investigators have said they do not believe the fire in suspicious, and while an exact cause has yet to be determined there is evidence it may have started in the wiring system. Early estimates place the damage between $30,000-$40,000.
