A man whose wife died in the Weber County Jail has now filed a wrongful-death lawsuit in federal court against the facility. The lawsuit, filed on Friday, claims that Weber County Sheriff Terry Thompson, along with 20 unnamed jailers and medical personnel, were negligent to the needs of Marion Herrera while she was incarcerated at the jail. The 40-year-old was found unresponsive in her cell on May 22, and the report from a state medical examiner determined the cause of death was due to narcotics withdrawal and dehydration.
Herrera had been arrested by South Ogden police on May 18, 2016, on suspicions she had cashed a forged check at a credit union.
