The hunt for an alleged gunman in a deadly drive-by shooting that occurred over the weekend continues, while charges have been filed in connection with another fatal shooting involving a juvenile. Will Ryan, 17, was killed while standing in front of his house around 10:45 p.m. Saturday evening. A second boy, also 17, was shot as well, but has since been released from the hospital. Officials with Unified Police believe the shooting to be gang related, but they are unsure if it can be connected with any other recent incidents involving juvenile suspects.
Ryan had been friends with a 14-year-old boy who was shot and killed in a gang-related shooting three weeks ago. Romeo Rodriguez was shot Aug. 3 while sitting in the back seat of a truck during a confrontation with another group. Frank Tsinniginnie, 18, was charged with murder, a first-degree felony; two counts of discharge of a firearm, a second-degree felony, and obstruction of justice, also a second-degree felony, in connection with that incident. Given the gang related nature of the shooting the charges all carry gang enhancements at sentencing if he's convicted.
Prosecutors requested that Tsinnijinnie be held on $1 million bail. Tsinnijinnie's case is one of many recent incidents involving juveniles that are showing a disturbing trend of violent offenses committed by younger offenders.
