A man who has previously been convicted for sexual crimes will now spend nearly three decades behind incarcerated for taking and sharing sexually explicit photos of children. Donald Ray Frichter, 36,of Salt Lake City, has been sentenced to 330 months in federal prison, after he pleaded guilty to charges that he distributed child pornography. He was also placed on probation for the rest of his life as part of his sentencing.
Frichter admitted that between July 2015 and April 2016 he shared images and videos of child pornography through a file sharing program. The images included prepubescent and minor children engaging in sexually explicit poses and in differing stages of undressing. When taken into custody he had over 600 images and videos in his possession, including pictures he took of two children.
Frichter was already a registered sex offender in the state at the time the charges were levied against him, with two previous convictions for attempted sex abuse of a child. According to the indictment Frichter took the pictures of the two children after his convictions in state court. Frichter will serve the entirety of his sentence before release, as there is no parole in the federal criminal justice system.
