Local and federal agencies are on the lookout for a gunman involved in the fatal shooting of a 46-year-old man on the Navajo Nation in southern Utah. Around 2 p.m. According to the FBI, a man was shot and killed in Aneth on the Navajo Nation on Thursday. Officers from the FBI, San Juan County Sheriff's Office, and Navajo Division of Public Safety are now actively seeking the person responsible. However, officials with the FBI have said they do not believe there is any threat to public safety.
Despite the comments from the FBI, Whitehorse High School and Montezuma Creek Elementary School were both closed down Friday as a precaution, while the search for the gunman continues. Though, according to district officials, the shooting did not occur on school property, nor is it believed to be school-related.
