Man arrested for child sex abuse

A Draper man who's been accused of kidnapping and sexually abusing a 4-year-old girl is under arrest, and is now under investigation in two other cases involving young children. John Richard Seymour, 67, is accused of offering candy or treats to young girls in at least two of the three cases. Seymour was reported to police on Saturday when a woman could not find her 4-year-old daughter for about 10 minutes. The girl would often take Seymour's mail to him, and would receive candy as a reward for doing so. When the woman went to Seymour's apartment, he had her wait at the door for long time before she decided to go inside. When she did she found her daughter with her pants down and holding a piece of candy, according to the police report.

The case was reported to the Utah Division of Child and Family Services, which was already aware of another incident involving Seymour and a young girl in West Jordan. As the investigation continued, Draper police found yet another suspicious case where Seymour had been seen in a park giving brownies to a 4-year-old girl, although an investigation into the incident later determined no crime had been committed.

Seymour was booked into jail Saturday for investigation of child kidnapping and sexual abuse of a child.
