Northbound I-15 reopened after medical incident

A police chase of a driver on I-15 took a turn for the worse, turning into a medical episode incident that closed down part of I-15 Friday morning. Unified police officials say that a pursuit began around 10:30 a.m. and continued with Utah Highway Patrol troopers. A truck hauling a trailer had failed to stop for some officers. The driver was eventually stopped around Beck Street just before 11 a.m., where officers discovered the male driver was having a diabetic episode. An ambulance was called to the scene and he was rushed to a nearby hospital.

A Utah Department of Transportation camera showed that the vehicle was weaving between lanes of traffic, which prompted a closure of part of the freeway as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of others.
