Warmer weather causing an uptick in bank robberies

One thing most people do not anticipate when the weather improves is an uptick in bank robberies. However, local law enforcement says that is exactly what they expect every year around this time. Salt Lake City police are now looking for a suspect connected in a pair of robberies, one of which took place as recently as Tuesday morning. According to a watch log report the unknown man walked into a US bank branch, handed a teller a note demanding money, then left with an undisclosed amount of cash. The same man carried out the same crime at a credit union last week in a manner so identical that he was even wearing the same shirt and hat when it occurred.

The suspect in the Salt Lake City robberies is a brown-haired Caucasian man who police believe to be in his late 30s or early 40s. In both incidents he wore a camouflage and white baseball cap, and a white Planet Fitness t-shirt.

Anyone with information is urged to call Salt Lake City police at 801-799-3000
