Student driving struck by dump truck

A woman is in critical condition after her vehicle was hit by a dump truck Wednesday morning, but is expected to survive. The 18-year-old woman was driving in an SUV when she collided "almost head-on" with the dump truck. She was extracted from her vehicle and suffered a broken femur, other broken bones, and internal bleeding. She was flown to a local hospital in "extremely critical condition," but police say she is expected to pull through.

The woman had been driving to Fremont High School, where she is a student. The crash remains under investigation.
