Utah Gov. Gary Herbert plans to call a special legislative session in November on the subject of medical marijuana, as both sides of the Proposition 2 debate agreed Thursday to de-escalate their campaigns in favor of a “shared vision" on cannabis policy.
The deal, announced Thursday in the ornate Gold Room of the state Capitol, effectively renders moot the vote on Prop 2, with Herbert and legislative leaders unveiling a draft bill that would allow for qualifying patients to obtain medical marijuana from their local county health departments or at one of up to five “medical cannabis pharmacies."
