Lauv Covers One Direction & Reveals He 'Might Be Falling In Love'

At his home studio in LA, from "the comfiest couch in the world," Lauv gave a very special performance during the iHeartRadio Living Room Concert Series presented by State Farm, and during the show revealed that he "might be falling in love," covered his favorite One Direction song, debuted a brand new song that he wrote while in quarantine, surprised fans with a special guest and spoke out on why the Black Lives Matter movement is so important.

Lauv kicked off his intimate performance with his song "Modern Loneliness" from his debut album ~how I'm feeling~, and then debuted a new song called "Dishes" that he wrote while in quarantine. He said of the track, "It's a new song. I literally wrote it during quarantine one day. I don't really know where I channeled it from, because you'll hear, it's sort of about missing somebody after you break up with them, and I haven't really broken up with anybody recently, so I'm not really sure where it came from. But, I love this song."

Next, the singer/songwriter performed one of his favorite One Direction songs, "Steal My Girl," and said that he rediscovered the tune because he "might be falling in love." He explained, "I just rediscovered this song, because I might be falling in love, I don't know. Shhh. And if so, this song is really the vibe right now for me, heavily. And, it's one of those things ... I was just taking a drive the other day, and I feel like when you start to feel like you're into somebody, at least for me, I no longer want to hear sad songs. I no longer want to wallow, and I don't want to do the whole like, breakup songs. All you wanna hear is the stuff that lights you on fire. And I kind of accidentally rediscovered this song, and it destroyed me in the best way."

Lauv also performed his collaboration with Anne-Marie, "F***, I'm Lonely," and surprised fans with a guest appearance the UK singer as she helped him perform the song from her home. The 25-year-old finished his living room performance from his terrace and sang his hit song "I Like Me Better."

Before fans got to see Lauv perform, the Blue Boy Foundation founder spoke about the Black Lives Matter movement and why it's so important to continue the conversation to address systemic racism. He also revealed that with a donation from iHeartRadio and State Farm to his Blue Boy Foundation, he is donating the money to The Therapy Fund, which helps provide therapy for black women and young girls. In a statement, he explained:

"Through this show, iHeart and State Farm decided to donate $75,000 to my foundation, which is much appreciated. And, originally, it was going to be allocated in the field of mental health to various organizations, especially those that are working in the COVID-19 situation. But, obviously, since then, we've seen a massive shift in the global conversation, largely sparked in the US by the death of George Floyd and the need to address systemic racism. And so, we've decided to do a couple of things. One, was to delay the air date of this show in order to create and maintain space for the Black Lives Matter movement, and the conversation that's been sparked, and the momentum that's happening, and the conversation addressing systemic racism. I just really wanted to leave that space, which I think is really important. Two, I've decided to re-allocate donations to an organization called The Therapy Fund, which is working to get therapy for black women and young girls. And, I just want to say, in addition, this can't just be a moment. This is something that needs to be a long, continued conversation. It's gonna take work, and especially for people like me who are white and privileged, it's really important. And I'm committing to continue to use my platform as much as I can to spread information and to amplify black voices, and I'm going to continue to donate to as many organizations as I can that are working across this entire situation. And, I just want to say, we can't forget the names of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and the countless other people whose lives have been stolen due to racism. I just hope this can be a continued conversation."

Lauv's Blue Boy Foundation is focused on mental health, and was founded around the time he wrote his song "Sad Forever" and was diagnosed with clinical depression and OCD. Through his foundation, he aims to donate proceeds from sales and streaming to different mental health organizations who are working to help break the stigma of mental health and give the support and resources to those who need it.
