2 arrested in Taylorsville burglary case

Two people have been arrested in connection to a break in at a Taylorsville home and subsequent car theft that occurred on Wednesday. Unified police say that around 11:25 a.m. a 16-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man approached a residence and knocked on the door. When nobody answered they assumed nobody was home proceeded to in the door. However, the homeowner happened to be in the residence at the time and managed to slip outside without drawing their attention. Once outside he was able to contact police about the break in.

As officers closed in on the area the pair fled. While the 16-year-old was apprehended in a nearby park, the 19-year-old managed to find an idling vehicle with nobody watching it, and stole the vehicle to make his getaway. Officers followed the vehicle and eventually arrested the man when he tried to abandon it and flee on foot.

Detectives located the vehicle the pair was originally driving and found multiple items connected to other burglaries inside of it. Unified Police are now looking into whether or not they were involved in other robberies as well.
