Teen struck by car outside West Valley school

A seventh-grade student at West Valley Jr. High school is in critical condition, after being struck be a vehicle outside the school Tuesday morning. Around 7:30 a.m. a 13-year-old male was hit outside of Kennedy Junior High School. He was taken to Primary Children's Hospital and listed in serious condition, while West Valley police tweeted out that he had suffered head trauma as a result. He was later downgraded to critical condition, but remains in the hospital.

Police say the student was not crossing in a crosswalk, and that the driver did not see the boy. Despite the presence of dense fog in the area, police have determined that it was not a factor in the incident. The crash remains under investigation.
