Utah's senior senator has announced he's planning on running for yet another term. Orrin Hatch, the longest-serving GOP senator, told CNN he's planning to run for re-election next year, clearing up months of speculation on if he'd run again or not. Hatch had promised his run 2012 would be his last, but says that the president has been working hard to convince him to run again for another term.
Earlier this month Trump had asked former Utah Gov. John Huntsman Jr. as his ambassador to Russia. Huntsman's name had been tossed around as a potential contender to unseat Hatch in this upcoming election. Some speculation remains regarding Mitt Romney possibly running against Hatch, but as of yet there has been no confirmed reports of Romney throwing his hat into the ring.
The 83-year-old senator has served in the senate since 1977.
