A police chase that began following a shooting in Salt Lake ended in Tooele County, with a brief gun fight with a man. Police spotted and began pursuing a vehicle believed to be involved in a shooting early Tuesday morning, that had left one person shot and hospitalized in stable condition at a hospital. The high speed chase reached speeds of up to 100 mph as the suspects raced down I-80 towards Tooele County.
The chase ended when the driver lost control of the vehicle. One of the individuals in the car opened fire at police, to which one officer returned gunfire. The shooter was flown by helicopter to a Salt Lake hospital where he was listed in critical condition. Another person in the car was taken into police custody.
