Man arrested for allegedly impregnating teen girl

An 18-year-old man is in jail on charges that he allegedly impregnated a 13-year-old girl. Pedro Juan Gaspar-Martin was booked into the Iron County Correctional Facility Friday for rape of a child and sodomy of a child, both first-degree felonies. He is also charged with sexual abuse of a child, a second-degree felony. His bail is set at $100,000.

Cedar City Police were initially contacted about the case by the Department of Child and Family Services. They asked to assist with a forensic interview of a child at the Children's Justice Center. The girl turned out to be pregnant and told investigators that the man she called her "boyfriend" had engaged in sexual activity several times between November 2016 and February 2017. She also told investigators that Gaspar-Martin is the father of the unborn child.

Gaspar-Martin admitted to having sex with the girl to investigators, and provided details to a number of the incidents. He acknowledged that he was aware of her age and knew he was the one who impregnated her.

The relationship took place when the girl was 13, though she has since turned 14. She is currently 21 weeks pregnant.
