Murray man charged for enticing 16-year-old

Kirt Leroy Andersen, a 51-year-old Murray man, has been charged with enticing what he believed was a 16-year-old girl for sex.

Police say Andersen learned he had actually been talking to an undercover officer.

Andersen is charged in 2nd District Court with five counts of dealing in materials harmful to a minor, a third-degree felony; and enticing a minor through the internet, a class A misdemeanor.

According to a Davis County Jail report, the undercover officer responded to an ad posted on Craigslist on Jan. 23 posing as a 16-year-old-girl.

The report states: "Over the period of a week, Kirt sent me sexually explicit text messages stating that he wanted to have intercourse with me and stated several times that my age of 16 scared him because he didn't want to go to jail. Kirt still texted me and sent five sexually graphic in nature pictures."

Andersen got on a FrontRunner train in Murray on Jan. 30 hoping to pick up the 16-year-old female, according to the charges. He was arrested when he arrived in Farmington to meet for sex.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
