Teen vandal charged for over $200k in damage

A teenage vandal was taken into custody early Tuesday morning, after police used a taser to bring the stop the spree. Around 3:30 a.m. police were called to the scene of a 7-Eleven store, to find the teen had "tore up" the store and gone on to vandalize several other nearby stores as well. According to officials with West Jordan police, the teen attacked the officers when they approached him. He was tased before being taken into custody, and was eventually sedated by paramedics as he continued to resist officers and emergency crew. He was then taken to a nearby hospital for examination.

Officials with West Jordan police say they think the teen may have been under the influence of a substance or going through some sort of mental health issue, but have not given a definitive reason for the incident. The boy is likely to face charges related to the damage he caused, estimated to be around $200,000, as well as charges related to his assaulting the officers.
