(New York, NY)  --  The NFL is reaching a $765-million settlement with thousands of former players over concussions.  Under the agreement, the NFL and NFL Properties will contribute $765-million to provide medical benefits and injury compensation for more than 4500 retired NFL football players or their families.  It will also fund medical and safety research, and cover legal expenses.  The NFL says the settlement "cannot be considered an admission of liability that injuries were caused by football."  A lawsuit by the former players alleged that the NFL knew for decades that football-related concussions caused long-term damage and did not do enough to prevent or inform players
