After first firing dozens of county employees...and then cancelling their county fair... it came as no surprise, Tuesday night, when Tooele County commissioners unanimously approved a 66% property tax increase.

The county's first tax hike in 27 years, will require the average homeowner to pay an additional $6 per month.

County funds have been decimated in recent years, but cuts in hazardous waste mitigation fee revenues and reductions in federal PILT payments.

The tax increase is expected to generate an additional $2.6-million for Tooele County.
