Well over a thousand Utah State Prison inmates are housed in county jails, throughout Utah.  According to the most recent numbers, Beaver County has the most -- close to 400.

The state pays Utah counties just under 47 dollars -- per inmate, per day -- to house the bad guys.

The income has become critical to counties trying to balance their budgets.

That's why many county commissioners fear, a brand new Utah State Prison will include additional capacity -- and their inmate 'cash cow' will be wounded or killed.
